Tithe or Christian Stewardship

Deuteronomy 8:18

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealthy, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

God grants to each the ability to get wealth.

Psalm 24:1

The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.

The earth is the Lord’s.

Haggai 2:8

“The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,” says the Lord of hosts.

The silver and gold are God’s.

Malachi 3:8-11

Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘in what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

Will a man rob God? Yet we have robbed Him by not giving Him His tithes and offerings. He asks us to prove (try) Him to see if He will not provide for your needs as you remain faithful giving what He requests of you.

Proverbs 3:9,10

Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.

If we honor God first, He will pour out heaven’s richest blessings.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

All these things (that you need to live) will be given to you as you seek first His kingdom.

Genesis 14:20

And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him a tithe of all.

Abraham pays tithe to Melchizadek, who symbolizes Jesus.

Leviticus 27:32

And concerning the tithe of the herd or the flock, of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord.

A tithe equals one tenth.

Matthew 23:23

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.

In discussing tithe, Jesus said, “This you should have done” but He condemned the Pharisees for neglecting mercy, justice, and compassion.

2 Corinthians 9:7

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

God loves a cheerful giver. The correct attitude is necessary.

1 Corinthians 9:13,14

Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who sever at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar? Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.

They which preach the gospel should be supported by those whom they preach the gospel to.

1 Timothy 5:18

For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”

The laborer is worthy of his pay.

Proverbs 11:24,25

There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.

The heart which freely gives will be constantly blessed with more by our Lord, not with the idea that we then collect it, but that we give again.

Deuteronomy 14:22

You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year.

God’s counsel for Christian finance “You shall truly tithe” applies today as much as in the days of ancient Israel.

John 13:17

If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.
