Entire Trust In God

It is not the food you eat, the exercise you get, or the water you drink that makes you healthy. It is not the sunshine, the fresh air, the rest or your temperate living that brings you health. All of these are agencies that God has put in place for our health, but it is God who gives you health. He chooses to use these agencies to impart health to you, and He will bless those agencies, but it is God who heals and maintains health.

You cannot be saved by keeping the 10 commandments, but you cannot be saved while disregarding them. It is not the mere action of “doing” the 10 commandments that saves us. The 10 commandments show us that we have a problem that we can’t take care of on our own. They show us that we need a savior, and they point us to Christ as the solution. It is only as we come to Jesus, and accept His perfect life in exchange for our sinful one, that we may have His reward of eternal life while He suffered under our penalty of death; it is only as we confess our wrongs and then turn away from them in the power of Christ to live a new life hid in Christ; it is only as we surrender to, depend upon, and cooperate with the Holy Spirit working in us to will and to do His good pleasure; it is only through this that we are saved. That salvation absolutely involves obedience to the known requirements of God, but that obedience is the result of God changing our heart and placing the desire and ability to obey within us.

Ezekiel 36:26-28 puts it this way, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws…you will be my people and I will be your God.” True obedience, which is a condition of salvation, always comes from a heart transformed by the love and grace of God, not from mere determination to obey. However, there is a part that I must play in that process.

It is the same thing with our health. We cannot gain complete or true health simply by eating carrots and bananas, drinking our water, walking in the fresh air and sunshine, getting our rest and avoiding harmful substances. We see that we have been wrong. Our lack of health shows that we have done things wrong and the laws of health point us to the fact that we have failed. We need a Savior to rescue us from our impossible situation. We must come to Jesus and confess our wrong health practices and then turn away from them in the power of Christ and live a new life hid in Christ. We must surrender to, depend upon, and cooperate with the Holy Spirit working in us to will and to do His good pleasure. Christ will give us a new heart and new desires and new abilities; and, through practicing (in the power of the Spirit) the natural remedies He has given us, He will bring healing to our damaged bodies.

The same God who healed the lepers is alive today. The same God who made the crippled walk is alive today. The same God who caused the blind to see is alive today. The same God who raised the dead to life is alive today. The same God who sent his angel to the midst of a maximum security prison and walked Peter out safely past 16 guards is alive today. The same God is alive today and just as willing to heal you now as he was during the time Jesus walked on this earth. Will you trust Him? Will you put your trust in Him? Will you allow Him to take complete and total control of your life? Will you surrender everything to Him and follow Him wherever He leads. He wants to bring you healing, but he must have all of you. It is the least you can do for Him who gave everything for you. Do you truly want healing? You must have Jesus--there is no other way!

Had the Israelites obeyed the instruction they received, and profited by their advantages, they would have been the world's object lesson of health and prosperity. If as a people they had lived according to God's plan, they would have been preserved from the diseases that afflicted other nations. Above any other people they would have possessed physical strength and vigor of intellect. They would have been the mightiest nation on the earth. God said: "Thou shalt be blessed above all people." Deuteronomy 7:14

Ministry of Healing p. 283

There are many ways of practicing the healing art, but there is only one way that Heaven approves. God's remedies are the simple agencies of nature, that will not tax or debilitate the system through their powerful properties.

Counsels on Health p. 323

Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, trust in divine power - these are the true remedies. Every person should have a knowledge of nature's remedial agencies and how to apply them. It is essential both to understand the principles involved in the treatment of the sick and to have a practical training that will enable one rightly to use this knowledge.

Ministry of Healing p. 127

Through the agencies of nature, God is working, day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment, to keep us alive, to build up and restore us. When any part of the body sustains injury, a healing process is at once begun; nature's agencies are set at work to restore soundness. But the power working through these agencies is the power of God. All life-giving power is from Him. When one recovers from disease, it is God who restores him.

Counsels on Health p. 168

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5,6

Know ye not that the Lord He is God: It is He that hath made us and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Psalms 100:3

...God hath made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth… seeing He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things… for in Him we live and move and have our being.

Acts 17:22-29

A great lesson is learned when we understand our relation to God, and His relation to us. The words ‘know ye not that… ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price’ should be hung in memory’s hall, that we may ever recognize God’s right to our talents, our property, our influence, our individual selves. We are to learn how to treat this gift of God, in mind, in soul, in body, that Christ’s purchased possession, we may do Him healthful, savory (pleasing) service.

Ps 33:9

Lack of Trust

Lack of trust leads to:

Depression, Guilt, Hate, Lonliness, Worry, Discontent, Fear, Doubt, Anger, Distress, Resentment, Anxiety

Stress, worry, anxiety, discontent, depression, anger, fear, all have a negative influence on the body. These kinds of emotions tend to break down our life forces by slowing down or preventing the systems of the body to function properly and actually invite decay, disease, and death.

Our response to the ups and downs of everyday life are translated by the brain into chemicals which have the ability to either SUPRESS or ENHANCE the Immune System. Negative emotions suppress the immune system, while positive emotions enhance it.

Worry/Anxiety

“Represents a concern respecting some event, future or uncertainty, which disturbs the mind, and keeps it in a state of painful uneasiness. It usually springs from fear or serious apprehension of evil, often perplexing the mind, to know how to shape our conduct.”

Continual worry can lead to:

  • Deficiency of Red Blood Cells
  • Life forces are worn out by continual worry. DA330
  • Increase in sodium retention which leads to HBP and results in potassium and hydrogen being flushed out of the system.
  • Due to the decrease of potassium in each cell, the cells function less and less, and eventually die. The long term effect of cells dying eventually will effect the shutting down of the organs of the body.
  • Arthritis, Ulcers, constipation, asthma, strokes, diabetes, HBP and more.
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye (first) the kingdom of God (and His righteousness); and all these things shall be added unto you.

Luke 12:22-31

When we take into our hands the management of things with which we have to do, and depend upon our own wisdom for success, we are taking a burden which God has not given us, and are trying to bear it without his aid. We are taking upon ourselves responsibility which belongs to God, and are really putting ourselves in His place. We may well have anxiety, and anticipate danger and loss; for it is certain to befall us. But when we really believe that God loves us, and means to do us good, we shall cease to worry about the future. We shall trust God as a child trusts a loving parent. Then our troubles and torments will disappear, for our will is swallowed up in the will of God. Faith lightens the burden of anxiety.

PP 600

Those who take Christ at his word, and surrender their souls to His keeping, their lives to His ordering, will find peace and quietude.

DA 331

…in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength…

Isa 30:15

Fear

A painful emotion or passion excited by an expectation of evil. Fear is accompanied with a desire to avoid or ward off the expected evil.

It is the absence of faith and trust that brings distrusting fear.

2T 140

Fear inhibits action, immobilizes us; Fear of all kinds inhibits learning.

Fear can:

  • Deplete the body of nutrients and prevent healing
  • Increase BP
  • Cause skin eruptions
  • Lead to mental and nervous breakdowns

When a 6 month old monkey is separated from it’s mother, it’s ability to fight off an infection is reduced 10 fold. The immune system may stay depressed for weeks.

There is no fear in Love, but perfect love casteth out fear because fear hath torment.

1 John 4:18

God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and of a sound mind.

2 Tim 1:7

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isa 41:10

I will fear no evil for thou art with me.

Ps. 23:4

Depression

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Pro 15:13

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Pro 17:22

If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Anger

He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be moved.

Psa 62:6

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Eph 4:31,32

Guilt

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1Jo 1:9

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
