Here you will find the transcripts of the Health by the Book Nuggets, as televised on Revolutionary Revelations on CNC3, Sunday afternoons at 4pm in Trinidad and Tobago (2011).

Introduction To WELLNESS

If you buy a new digital camera, it comes with a manufacturer’s warranty and an instruction manual. The instruction manual tells you how the camera operates and under what conditions it is to be used. If you do not follow the conditions of use as specified in the instruction manual, you nullify the manufacturer’s warranty.

Water

In Genesis chapters 1-3 we not only read about the creation of our world, but we also discover God’s ways to WELLNESS: Water, Exercise, Living Temperately, Lots of Fresh Air, Nutrition, Entire Trust in God, Sunshine, & Sufficient Rest. In this nugget, we want us to focus in on the first way to WELLNESS, which is water.

Exercise

In Genesis 1:28 & 2:15, we learn about our second principle of WELLNESS--Exercise. We read, “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’” “Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” In other words, God gave man his work.

Living Temperately

In Genesis 2:16 & 17 we learn about our third principle of WELLNESS, Living Temperately. We read, “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’”

Lots of Fresh Air

In Genesis 1:6 we read about our fourth principle of WELLNESS--Lots of Fresh Air. We read, “Then God said, ‘Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.’” On the second day of creation in preparation for the creation of man, God made the pure air of the then untainted atmosphere.

Nutrition

In Genesis 1:29 & 3:18 we learn about our fifth principle of WELLNESS--Nutrition. We read, “And God said, ‘See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.” “And you shall eat the herb of the field.”

Entire Trust in God

In Genesis 2:21 & 22 we learn about our sixth and most important principle of WELLNESS--Entire Trust in God. We read, “And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.”

Sunshine

In Genesis 1:3 & 16 we read about the seventh principle of WELLNESS--Sunshine. We read, “Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.” “Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.”

Sufficient Rest

In Genesis 2:2 & 3 we read about our 8th and final principle of WELLNESS--Sufficient Rest. We read, “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.”

WELLNESS Review

In the last 9 Health by the Book Nuggets, we have looked at the principles of WELLNESS as found in the first 3 chapters of Genesis. Those principles are Water, Exercise, Living Temperately, Lots of fresh Air, Nutrition, Entire Trust in God, Sunshine, and Sufficient Rest. These principles can be used by anybody anywhere in order to gain and maintain health.

Diabetes 1

Diabetes, a disease characterized by high levels of sugar in the blood, has been spreading across the globe at an alarming rate. At the same time, easily accessible and affordable foods that are high in calories and low in fiber and nutrition have become widely available. The rise in the rates of diabetes is too fast to be explained by genetics, but easily fits with poor health choices in the recent generations.

Diabetes 2

In the last nugget, we looked at what diabetes is and what happens to your body when blood sugar levels go up. Today we are going to start looking at what you, as a diabetic, can do about it. By the way, if you have other diseases such as high cholesterol, heart disease, stroke, and osteoporosis, and you live like a diabetic should, you will treat your disease too. So let’s look at what you can do to improve your health and treat your diabetes at home.

Diabetes 3

In the last nugget, we started exploring the WELLNESS treatment of diabetes and we focused upon water and exercise. Today we are going to look at Live Temperately, Lots of Fresh Air and Nutrition. Again, WELLNESS stands for water, exercise, live temperately, lots of fresh air, nutrition, entire trust in God, sunshine, and sufficient rest.

Diabetes 4

In the last 3 nuggets, we have explored diabetes and the WELLNESS treatments of water, exercise, live temperately, lots of fresh air, and nutrition. Today we are going to look at entire trust in God, sunshine and sufficient rest.

Overweight 1

In 2008 67.9% of the population of Trinidad & Tobago was overweight or obese. Those numbers are increasing rapidly. There is nothing genetic that can explain the rapid rise of obesity and overweight that is exploding across the globe. The cause, however, can be found on our own tables, and in our own takeout containers. In the next 5 nuggets, we are going to explore overweight and obesity and principles of healthy weight loss. So come join me as we look at this important topic.

Overweight 2

Last time we started looking at overweight and obesity and its associated risk factors and causes. Today we are going to look at what to avoid when losing weight.

Overweight 3

In the last two nuggets, we looked at the problems of overweight and obesity and what to avoid in weight loss programs. Today we are going to start looking at the principles of healthy weight loss.

Overweight 4

In the last three nuggets, we looked at the problems of overweight and obesity, what to avoid in weight loss programs, and some of the principles of healthy weight loss. Today we will look at the nutrition principles of healthy weight loss.

Overweight 5

In the last four nuggets, we looked at the problems of overweight and obesity, what to avoid in weight loss programs, and some of the principles of healthy weight loss. Today we will look at the final principles of healthy weight loss.

Osteoporosis

Today I am going to clear up some misconceptions about osteoporosis or thinning of the bones. First of all, osteoporosis literally means holes in the bones. It is a loss of the mass of the bone over time that leaves the bone frail and prone to fractures, most notably fractures of the spine, hip, and wrist. Many people believe that they need calcium supplements to avoid osteoporosis, but the reality is that osteoporosis isn’t about calcium supplements. It’s about calcium excretion.
