WELLNESS Review

In the last 9 Health by the Book Nuggets, we have looked at the principles of WELLNESS as found in the first 3 chapters of Genesis. Those principles are Water, Exercise, Living Temperately, Lots of fresh Air, Nutrition, Entire Trust in God, Sunshine, and Sufficient Rest. These principles can be used by anybody anywhere in order to gain and maintain health.

Do you enjoy being sick or suffering with disease? The truth is, you don’t have to. You have eight doctors that you can call on at any time. With the consistent use and application of water, regular exercise, the practice of temperance, regular deep breathing of fresh air, proper nutrition, an abiding trust in God, sufficient sunshine exposure, and sufficient rest, you can experience health as you have never dreamed possible. These are not just a prescription of how to prevent disease, which they are, but they are also a prescription of how to treat disease. And they are not only a prescription. These are the laws of health.

In a book called Ministry of Healing, page 127 we read, “Disease is an effort of nature to free the system from conditions that result from a violation of the laws of health. In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained. Unhealthful conditions should be changed, wrong habits corrected.” You see, diabetes is not caused by a lack of Metformin. Coronary artery disease is not caused by a lack of aspirin or angioplasty, and obesity is not the result of a lack of diet pills. When one is suffering with a disease, it is because the laws of health have been violated. It is because the lifestyle is wrong.

If you are suffering from disease, it is your responsibility to look for the underlying cause of that disease and correct it. Ask yourself, am I violating any of the laws of health? Am I drinking enough water? Do I properly use external water treatments? Do I get sufficient exercise regularly? Do I practice temperance in all its forms? Do I get sufficient fresh air regularly? Do I consistently follow principles of proper nutrition? Is my relationship with and trust in God as strong as it should be? Do I get sufficient sunshine exposure? Have I learned to rest in God so that I get proper sleep and Sabbath rest?

If you find that you are deficient in one or a number of these laws of health, then make a change today. The body will take some time to respond, so don’t get impatient. You didn’t get sick or diseased right away. You won’t recover right away either. But the body will recover well when it is treated right. The benefits of living the laws of health are tremendous.
