Cooking, by the Book

Genesis 1:29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” This is the diet that God originally intended for man to eat. It is a diet based on eating plant foods--fruits, nuts, grains, legumes, and vegetables. No meat, no milk, no butter, no cheese, no oil. Just whole plant foods. Cooking by the book strives to bring you recipes that use foods in as natural a state as possible. It can be overwhelming to try to make big changes in your diet, so we are attempting to make it easier by giving you a few healthy recipes as starters.

All of the recipes that are listed on our web site have been tried and approved by our family. The recipes that we present to you seek to incorporate as much as possible whole foods that are prepared in a simple way, yet are tasty (we think so!) and appealing to the eyes. We have sought to avoid excess sugar or other refined carbohydrates, and concentrated fats, to provide you with diet options for optimal WELLNESS.

We would like to remind you that your taste buds do change. In fact, they are replaced about every month, and so as you stick with the decision to eat healthy, and avoid the high-impact foods that you used to eat (highly processed, fat and sugar-laden, and spicy foods), you will become accustomed to dishes that would have seemed bland to you in the beginning. So don’t give up. If you don’t like a recipe, experiment with it and try others to find what you like. But remember, our choice of food needs to be based upon its health value, not just its taste.

God bless you as you seek to serve Him by feeding His temple (your body, see 1 Corinthians 6:19,20) only healthy foods.
