The Judgment

Revelation 14:6,7

Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

God’s final message to mankind pictures judgment.

Revelation 22:12

And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.

Since Jesus comes to give out His rewards, there must be a judgment before He comes to determine who receives what reward, when He comes.

Matthew 12:36

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

Jesus pictured the judgment as future.

Acts 24:25

Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.”

Paul reasons with Felix of judgment to come.

Daniel 7:9,10

I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire; a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.

Daniel saw the sitting of the Supreme Court of the Universe and the opening of the judgment.

Ecclesiastes 12:13,14

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

God will bring every secret thing into judgment.

Hebrews 4:13

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

All things are open unto God.

2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.

Romans 14:12

So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

Everyone of us must give account of himself to God.

Psalm 87:6

The Lord will record, when He registers the peoples: “This one was born there.”

In the judgment the Lord considers where we were born.

Jeremiah 2:22

“For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before Me,” says the Lord God.

All of our iniquities (sins) are marked before God.

Malachi 3:16

Then those who reared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name.

All of our righteous acts prompted by unselfish motives, accomplished through the grace of Christ, are recorded before God.

Revelation 20:12

And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

The basis of judgment is the record of our lives revealed in heaven’s record.

Acts 3:19

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

If we turn from sin in repentance, our sins will be blotted out of God’s record in the final judgment.

Revelation 3:5

He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

If we continue in sin, failing to overcome, openly rebelling against God, our names are blotted out of God’s record.

Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

The only way to overcome the condemnation of judgment is through Jesus.

Hebrews 7:24,25

But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Our heavenly high Priest is able to save to the uttermost all who come to God through Him.

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

The Holy Spirit is God’s teacher.

Matthew 12:31,32

Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

To reject the convicting, converting, instructing power of the Holy Spirit continually is to commit the unpardonable sin.
